Join SNOBSWAP and log in to your account

Registering is fast and free! Go to the home page and click on Register. Create a username and password or sign up through Facebook. You will receive an email from SNOBSWAP to confirm and activate your membership.

LISTING ITEMS

How to list an item for sale or swap

It’s easy with a few clicks of your mouse! Click on LIST ITEM on the home page and start listing:

  1. Step 1: Describe your item by including category (i.e., apparel), brand, condition, size, color, etc. Remember to include accurate details, such as measurements, unique qualities, etc.
  2. Step 2: Upload clear photos of your item. This is best done against a white surface
  3. Step 3: Choose the types of offers you would like to accept:
    Types of Offers Description
    Swap Offers Receive offers of item(s) in exchange for your swap item (e.g., Swap item(s) for item(s)).
    Cash Offer Members buy your item for a fixed sale price
    Fixed sale price of $____ or Buy Now Members buy your item for a fixed sale price

    The beauty of SNOBSWAP is that you can use any combination of offers, providing many possibilities to best swap or sell your item.

  4. Step 4: Set your return policy and shipping costs.
  5. Step 5: If you don’t already have one, set up your PayPal billing account to get paid. Voila! Your item is listed and ready for sale or swap!

Determining the Condition of Your Item

Condition Description
New Brand new with tags and in original packaging
Like New Looks new, excellent condition, used/ worn only a few times
Gently Loved Looks gently used, still in good condition
Well Worn Noticeable signs of wear and tear (e.g., faded color, loose button, or slightly frayed edges)

To avoid disappointments and unflattering reviews, please disclose any repairs your item may need and post pictures of any blemishes. Please refrain from posting items that are stained or beyond repair.

It is FREE to list your items so list away!

Listing Tips

  • Accurate & truthful descriptions: Be as accurate as possible when describing your item (e.g., measurements and condition). Also be truthful about even the slightest damage or wear and tear to avoid disappointments. For example, if the condition of your item is "Well Worn," describe any defects and/or wear and tear in detail in your listing description.
  • Be descriptive: Provide a descriptive title by including the type of item, brand, size, color, etc., to allow our search engine to pick up your item when members run their searches. For example, Large Jumbo Black Caviar Leather Chanel Purse Handbag Tote! Think about what key words you would use if you were searching for your item.
  • Advertise: Use the Describe Your Item box to advertise your item with important details. Tell members what you liked about your item and how it can be best used/ worn (e.g., "This fitted blouse would look stunning with a pencil skirt and platform heels."). Don't forget to brag about designer brands and having the original packaging, authenticity or care cards, dust bags, etc.
  • The price is right: Before listing your item for sale, take a few minutes to research how much other members are listing similar items for on SNOBSWAP or on other websites.
  • Post clear photos: Post clear, close-up photos of your item so that members can see important details. Provide pictures of your item from different angles. Try to take photos of your item against a clean, white surface. Make sure your item is ready for primetime before snapping that picture.
  • Ship it: Shipping within your promised handling time (time needed to pack item and drop in mail) or earlier will keep you in good standing with other members. We highly encourage shipping within 3 to 5 days.
  • Communication is key: Be responsive to questions about your item. Always be as pleasant and polite as you would want to be treated.
  • Be a good snob: Please refrain from posting items that you would be embarrassed to trade with a friend, e.g., a wine-stained shirt. Also, please make sure your item is clean before delivery.

SWAPPING

How swapping works

  • List your swap item and choose desired offers
    Types of Offers Description
    Swap Offers Receive offers for item(s) in exchange for your swap item (e.g., Swap item(s) for item(s)). Swap items can also be offered alone or in addition to a cash offer (e.g., Shirt + $10)
    Cash Offer Receive cash offers for your item. Cash can be offered alone or in addition to a swap offer (e.g., Bag + $25)

    You can choose one or both types of offers above. For instance, if you chose both types of offers, you may receive a swap offer for another item plus Cash.

  • Find a swap match

    Once your swap item is listed, SNOBSWAP’s clever Matchmaker will help you find suggested items to swap for your listed item. You can also find items available to swap by searching in the SNOBSWAP’s SHOP

  • Making an Offer

    This is where the fun begins! If a listing has an Offer button, that means the seller is either accepting swap-for-item offers, cash offers, or both. You can tell what types of offers the seller is accepting by the symbols in the listing:

    Swap Offers Seller accepting offers for items in exchange for your swap item. Swap items can be offered alone or in addition to a cash offer (e.g., Jeans + $25)
    Cash Offer Seller accepting cash offers. Cash can be offered alone or in addition to a swap item offer (e.g., Bag + $25)

    Flexibility in negotiations is key. If there are two swap items of different values, offering a Swap + Cash helps bridge the difference between the values of the items.

    When you find an item you like, click the Offer button and SNOBSWAP will walk you through creating an offer. For example, if you have a Coach wallet to swap and the seller is accepting swap and cash offers for her Gucci purse, you might propose the following offer:

  • Accept, Decline, or Counter

    Once you send your offer, the owner of the item will have 48 hours to Accept, Decline, or Counter Offer starting from the time the offer was sent. All offers expire after 48 hours.

  • Counter Offer

    To propose a Counter Offer, you will go through the same steps as proposing an offer. There are no limits as to how many Counter Offers can be proposed.

  • Shipping swap items

    If you accept a swap or cash offer, you pay for shipping.

SELLING

Self-List Your Item for Sale

To sell your item, name your price by setting a Fixed Sale Price of $___. You can also accept cash offers. You will need to set up your PayPal account to accept payments for your sold items. Buyers will pay you directly through PayPal. For Buy Now items, payment will be made to you at the time of purchase. For Cash Offers, once an offer is accepted, the buyer will be sent an email invoice to pay via PayPal.

Seller's Fee

If you listed your own item, you will earn 90% of the sale price! That means only a10% seller’s fee of the sale price or the cash portion of an offer (e.g., swap + cash) will be charged.

BUYING

Buying items on SNOBSWAP is a piece of cake! To purchase an item, go to the SHOP page click on the Buy Now button or make a Cash Offer ( symbol). During check out you will be directed to PayPal were you can safely complete your purchase. You can use your PayPal account to pay for the item or use a credit card without having to register for a PayPal account. All purchases are processed through PayPal and protected by PayPal’s Buyer Protection Program.

SHIPPING

Shipping is simple. For Buy Now items, you can add the shipping costs to your sale price, which means the buyer pays for the shipping. Or you can list shipping costs as Free, which means shipping costs are on you. If you listed your item to accept swaps or cash offers, you pay for shipping your own item.

Avoid long lines at the post office by using SNOBSWAP’s Shipping Wizardess to print out shipping labels at your convenience. (Read more about Shipping.) Pack up your item, affix the shipping label on the package, and drop it off at the appropriate shipping service for delivery. To keep the Shipping Wizardess operating at your service, we charge a nominal convenience fee of 10% of the shipping cost when you print your shipping label.

For your protection, please obtain a tracking number or delivery confirmation for you item. This will provide proof of shipment in case the item gets lost.

REVIEWS

Reviews are crucial to know how a particular member has performed as a swapper, seller, or buyer. You can check another member’s ratings and comments by clicking on the member’s username. Positive and negative review scores are aggregated and shown as percentages.

To leave a review, go to My Closet and click on the Reviews link. You can leave reviews about others, as well as read reviews about yourself. Encourage other members you have transacted with to leave reviews about you as they help build your credibility.

RESOLVING DISPUTES

All disputes should first be directed to the seller. Requests for refunds can be processed through PayPal’s Buyer Protection Program. Remember, SNOBSWAP is only a marketplace to swap, sell, and shop. As such, we are not responsible for any members’ actions. If you cannot reach an agreeable solution, we will do everything we can to help. Please email contact@snobswap.com and describe the complaint. As part of our investigation, we may contact you and the other member.

Most problems can be resolved through open communication. Contact the other member and explain your concern. Give the other member the benefit of the doubt . . . s/he may be traveling or swamped for the moment.

POLICY AGAINST FAKES

SNOBSWAP has a zero-tolerance policy for fake or counterfeit items, and the SNOBSWAP security team scours the site daily for suspect items. We also have an independent expert authenticator that we consult to help authenticate items. If we discover that a member has listed a counterfeit item, we will not hesitate to remove the listing, terminate the member’s account, and notify the police and other appropriate law enforcement agencies. We rely on our members to help keep SNOBSWAP free of fakes. If you see a suspect item, please click on the Contact Us link, which is located on every listing.

How do I know if the seller of an item wants to swap or accept cash offers?

If a listing has an Offer button that means the seller is either accepting swap for item offers, swap credits, cash offers, or all of the above. If a listing has a Buy Now button that means the item is for sale for the listed price.

Do I have to pay a fee to list an item on SNOBSWAP?

Nope, there are no listing fees! Each item listing is free and will be posted for 180 days, after which your listing will become inactive. After 180 days, you can relist your inactive listing. (Read Listing Items and Terms of Use).

Is there a Seller’s Fee for selling my item?

Yes. If you listed an item yourself, a nominal seller's fee of 10% of the sale price or the cash portion of an offer (e.g., swap + cash) will be charged. This means you keep 90% of your earnings. This is by far lower than other consignment sites.

What can I list on SNOBSWAP?

SNOBSWAP members love all things designer! Generally, items purchased from stores like Nordstrom or higher tend to be the best fit on SNOBSWAP and have the best chances of selling. But we also love quality clothing, handbags, shoes, and accessories from up and coming designers, and cute on-trend pieces from popular stores.

Is there a Swap Fee for swapping?

Swapping is free! All you have to pay is the cost of shipping your item. Just imagine, you can swap idle goodies in your closet for “new” designer goodies for practically free! (Read more about Swapping).

How does PayPal work on SNOBSWAP?

Purchases are safely processed through PayPal. Check out is easy!

  1. During checkout, the buyer selects PayPal as the payment method. The buyer is directed to PayPal to complete the payment process. The buyer can either sign in to their PayPal account or may be able to use a credit card without having to register for a PayPal account.
  2. After submitting payment through PayPal, the buyer is directed back to a confirmation page on SNOBSWAP. SNOBSWAP and PayPal will send the buyer and seller an email receipt about the order.
  3. Voila! The seller will see money deposited into their PayPal account.

Is SNOBSWAP currently available outside the United States?

Sorry, SNOBSWAP is currently only available to residents of the United States while we are in our beta phase. But we know there's a global thirst to swap designer clothes and accessories, and we hope to expand to other countries soon.

Will my personal information be given to third parties?

Nope. Designer brands would love to buy our list and spam you about their over-priced jeans and shoes, but we know snobs value their privacy and we respect it. (Read our Privacy Policy).

How do I edit my account information?

Go to Manage My Account, where you can edit your profile, contact information, and more.

What happened to Swap Credits?

Based on feedback from our members that Swap Credits were confusing, we’ve decided to put Swap Credits away for now, to focus on offering members Swapping for items, Buy Now and Cash Offers. We may bring back Swap Credits in the future by popular demand. If you have accrued Swap Credits, they are safely tucked away in your Swap Credits account. You can check Manage My Account.

How much time do I have to respond to a Swap Offer?

48 hours from the time the offer was sent.

For swap exchanges, who ships an item first?

It is good practice that members determine a mutually agreeable date to ship their items. However, if no date is agreed upon, the member with fewest transactions under her fabulous belt usually sends out the item first. The number of transactions for each member is found next to the member’s username. For example, Coco (41) 100% has completed 41 transactions. We encourage shipping items within 3-5 days.
Remember, if you listed your item for swap, swap credits, or swap for cash, you cover the shipping costs for your own item.

What is a shipping convenience fee?

If you use the Shipping Wizardess to print a shipping label, we charge a nominal convenience fee of 10% of the shipping cost.

What is My Personal Shopper?

Every fashionista should have a personal shopper! On SNOBSWAP you can instruct your Personal Shopper to email you when an item you want is listed for swap or sale. Set up your Personal Shopper now!

What is the Matchmaker?

Once you list your item, the:
• Matchmaker will show you all the clothes, accessories, and other items you can receive in swap for your listed item.
• The Matchmaker will help you find that perfect swap match. List as many swap items as you can and make sure
  your Wish List is extensive so that
• the Matchmaker can find the maximum number of matches for you, thereby increasing your chances of swapping.
•  To help you facilitate swaps, tell your Matchmaker to notify you about new potential matches. You can also be proactive and use
  the search features on the Shop Swaps to find items you'd like to swap.

What is my Wish List?

Your Wish List keeps track of the items your heart desires to swap or buy. Your Wish List is also important because it helps the Matchmaker find you potential swap matches.

Where can I read my messages?

Go to My Closet, then click My Messages.

How do I edit an item that I listed?

Go to My Closet, then click My Listings.

Can I list an item for both swapping and selling?

Absolutely! Maximize your chances of swapping or selling.

How do I contact another member?

You can go to the member's profile and click on Contact Member.

If the other member is local, can I arrange a local delivery and pick-up?

Sure. Contact the member through SNOBSWAP to arrange a time and location for the exchange. Be street smart and pick a safe location. Safety first!

What if I have multiple offers for my swap item?

Out of courtesy, you can choose to swap with the member who was first to give you an offer. But you choose the offer you like best. Once you accept and agree to a swap deal, the other members' offers will be canceled and they will be notified that the item has been Swapped.

How is the Review score determined?

The Review score is calculated as a percentage by aggregating all the positive and negative reviews and dividing the total number of reviews. Star ratings next to the member's user name are based on a five-star point system (5 Stars = Super Snob; 1 Star = Naughty Snob).

Can I cancel a transaction?

Yes, contact the member as soon as possible and politely explain the reason for wanting to cancel (e.g., misunderstanding). (Read Resolving Disputes).

How do I know if a bag is authentic?

SNOBSWAP has a zero-tolerance policy for fake or counterfeit items, and the SNOBSWAP security team scours the site daily for suspect items. We also have an independent expert authenticator that we consult to help authenticate items. If you would like to authenticate a bag, contact Taste For Luxury at tasteforluxury@gmail.com and tell them SNOBSWAP sent you. Since all purchases are processed safely through PayPal you are also entitled to PayPal’s Buyer Protection Program if you receive an item you believe is fake.

What if the item I received was not as described?

Contact the member and explain why the item you received was not as described. (Read Resolving Disputes).

What if I don't receive an item?

Contact the member and ask when you can expect delivery of your item. You can also ask the member to: (1) provide shipping tracking information; (2) give you a refund; or (3) offer to send you a replacement item. (Read Resolving Disputes).
