In a city most known for its famous residents and the glitz and glamor of Hollywood, LA is a melting pot of creatives and cultures. It’s a city that’s constantly evolving, which for the many consignment shops and consumers in the area, means a treasure trove of vintage and designer items.
In this post, we give you a cheat sheet on some of our absolute favorite LA-based consignment shops for you to score the best pieces.
On Que Style: On Que Style was founded by former runway specialist for Donna Karan New York and Orange County’s favorite fashion stylist, Kirsten Prosser in 2009. Their boutique store is filled with items from some of the hottest luxury brands and just in case you need more OQS in your life, head up to Irvine to visit their outlet store, where you can get Louis Vuitton, Chanel and Giuseppe Zanotti for up to 90% off their original retail prices! Bellissima Consignment Boutique: Right on the beautiful Pacific Coast Highway is the OC’s best-kept secret, . The boutique carries Chanel, Armani, Gucci, Prada and Roberto Cavalli just to name a few. If you’re a fan of St John’s Knits, the boutique also carries the largest collection in the whole country. (Address: 2850 East Coast Hwy, Corona Del Mar, CA 92625)
Decades: Decades is a Melrose Avenue icon and a destination for fashion enthusiasts around the world. The store is easily one of the most well-known resale shops in LA, partly due to reality television show, Dukes of Melrose, starring co-owners Christos Garkinos and Cameron Silver. They also count Blake Lively, Courtney Love, and Rachel Zoe as just some of their consigners and buyers and for good reason, the store has an incredible, highly-curated selection of designer pieces. You have to check out their time capsule upstairs which holds red carpet pieces worn by supermodels and Hollywood greats. They’ve got the usual suspects: Hermes, Louis Vuitton, and Chanel, as well as some truly rare, vintage pieces from Bob Mackie, Jean Paul Gaultier and Balmain. Great Labels: Great Labels has been selling luxury, pre-owned items on the Westside for more than a decade. They’ve got to-die-for Gucci, Prada and Dior and super-cool 3.1 Phillip Lim, Alexander Wang and Moschino pieces. They tend to buy items that are about 2-3 years old so you can be sure that items are in pristine and nearly new condition. The owner, Andrea Waters always has great style and the cutest clothes. Gift of Garb: Founder Abby McLucas began selling her designer pieces on Ebay in 2003 and in 2014, opened her first physical store in Eagle Rock. Now, her beautiful airy store is located in Silverlake and offer seasonal, trendy clothing and accessories from Louis Vuitton and Saint Laurent to Acne and Yeezy. Most pieces are selling at about 50% of the original retail price so you could definitely score some great deals. (Address: 1835 Hyperion Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90027)
Luxury 24-7: Luxury 24-7 is San Gabriel Valley’s premier destination for luxury items and a division of a high-end collectible, rare coin and estate jewelry store in Alhambra that’s been in business for about 40 years, so these guys know about authenticating items. Their store has some really special pieces and their best-selling brands include Chanel, David Yurman, and Cartier. A List Sample Sale: A List Sample Sale has been raiding celebrities and socialites’ closets since 2002 and gained a huge following among consignment-loving Los Angelians. Founder Caroline Bray has contacts with some major designers and boutiques which has given the store access to some harder-to-find merchandise so they’ve got gorgeous dresses by Proenza Schouler and Alexander McQueen, Gucci and Givenchy bags and shoes from Jimmy Choo and Manolo Blahnik, of course. Catwalk Designer Vintage: Rihanna, Tracee Ellis Ross, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kae Moss and Nancy Sinatra. What do all these women have in common? They’ve all shopped at Catwalk Designer Vintage. Founded by Renee Johnston, a fashion stylist and Michelle Webb, a music video producer back in 2001, the boutique is probably one of the coolest vintage shops in LA. Ever. They’ve got everything from fur-lined Gucci loafers, patterned Versace silk-shirts and Dior ski boots. (Address: 459 N Fairfax Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90036)
Haute Seconds: Owner Patty Fischer Turner founded her shop back in 2005 and today, Haute Seconds has been recognized as one of the best designer resale stores in LA by CBS and Refinery29. They are highly selective of their designer wares so you can expect authentic Gucci, Louis Vuitton, and Christian Louboutin, as well as contemporary labels like Helmut Lang and Vince, that are almost good as new. Walker / Viden Luxury Consignment: Walker / Viden Luxury Consignment prides itself in having an exceptionally curated range of women and men’s fashion to serve all your sartorial needs. Their chic Pasadena-based showroom carries premium brands, including Hermes, Fendi, and Chanel (which typically sell in less than a week) and a unique selection of vintage items, from 1970s Halston dresses to Geoffrey Beene.
